A study published in the Nov. 2008 issue of Arthritis and Rheumatism took a look at the health differences in women with fibromyalgia who are employed and those who are not. Over five years, more than 200 women with fibromyalgia underwent annual interviews, allowing researchers to collect data on pain, fatigue, and other health issues. Half of the study subjects were employed. “Except for pain, patients who were employed at baseline had better health status over time,” researchers discovered. “Employed women with FM have better health status at baseline and maintain that advantage over time.”
